"For today, in the town of David, a Savior has been born to you; He is Christ the Lord."
-Luke 2:11
O Holy Night - Martina McBride
It probably comes as no surprise to you now that I love snow. So any Christmas song about a white, snowy Christmas, I will love. And as, I've said before, I wish for a white Christmas every year. (and seeing as Christmas is tomorrow, it looks like Michigan will be having a very white Christmas this year, yay!)
"Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, 'Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth, peace to those on whom His favor rests.'"
-Luke 2:13
Christmas Angels - Michael W. Smith
This is another song from the Duck Dynasty crew but not as much of a funny one. I love it because it explains how I feel about Christmas and (another reason) why I love it.
(and because it includes a great country singer)
Why I Love Christmas - Josh Turner and Missy Robertson
"An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them."
-Luke 2:9
Angels From The Realms Of Glory - Steven Curtis Chapman
This song I first heard last year and loved it right away. I love how joyful and upbeat it is.
God Bless Us Everyone - Andrea Bocelli

"So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because He belonged to the house and line of David. He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to Him and was expecting a child."
-Luke 2:4-5
Oh Little Town of Bethlehem - Steven Curtis Chapman
I like this song because I think it explains how a lot of people feel about Christmas when they find the "sparkle" of it again. The singer isn't so bad either (in fact, she is amazing!)
"And on earth, peace to those on whom His favor rests."
-Luke 2:14b
It Came Upon A Midnight Clear - Josh Groban
This song has always been a Christmas favorite of mine. It's not a popular Christmas song, but any country music lovers (I can almost guarantee) love this Christmas song. It doesn't have all the amazing instruments with it, or any great harmonizing. It's just a simple song that makes it easy to listen to and relax while listening.
"After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod, Magi from the East came to Jerusalem and asked, 'Where is the one who has been born King of the Jews? We saw His star when it rose and have come to worship Him.'"
-Matthew 2:1-2
We Three Kings - Michael W. Smith
This is another one of those fun Christmas songs that everybody know. Another one that without it, my list would not be complete.
"When the angels had left them and gone into Heaven, the shepherds said to one another, 'Let's go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.'"
Luke 2:15
Go Tell It On The Mountain - Steven Curtis Chapman
Having my own experience with adoption, this song is very close to me and my family's heart. It describes exactly what our family went through waiting all those years to get Shaelyn. Each Christmas saying, "maybe next year we will have 'our little girl.'" And then, the Christmas we finally had her with us, felt like our family was complete.
"And Mary said: 'My soul glorifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior for He has been mindful of the humble state of His servant. From now on all generations will call me blessed for the Mighty One has done great things for me - holy is His name.'"
-Luke 1:46-49
Virgin's Lullaby - Nativity Voices
This song is from the Polar Express, which is one of my favorite Christmas movies (mainly due to the soundtrack from it); which is why I like this song a lot. It is also another song with a great balance of two voices.
"And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, 'Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people.'"
-Luke 2:8
"On coming to the house, they saw the child with His mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped Him. Then they opened their treasures and presented Him with gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh."
-Matthew 2:10-11
The First Noel - Josh Groban feat. Faith Hill
Other than this being a Christmas song, I don't really have a particular reason for liking it. This is just one of those very popular Christmas songs that has to be included in my list of songs because it wouldn't be complete without it.
Have Yourself A Very Little Christmas - Joe Nichols
"This is how God showed His love among us: He sent His one and only Son into the world that we might live through Him."
-1 John 4:9
Christmas Is All In The Heart - Steven Curtis Chapman
I like this song because it's a reminder to all of those who don't feel the "magic" of Christmas anymore; they don't have that sparkle in their eye. This song reminds us to feel Christmas like we did when we were kids. Waking up bright & early Christmas morning (or, Christmas Eve for some folks), tearing into the presents, hearing "Wow!" and "Oh, COOL!" all throughout the living room, etc. Christmastime is a time for all of us to feel like kids, (how does that song go? "kids...from 1 to 92). Even if you think you're "too mature" to not be excited, we all know how you are feeling on the inside when you open that perfect gift. So let it out, scream, shout, be happy and cheerful, "Joy to the World!", act like a little kid all throughout the season; it makes for a much brighter, happier, and magical Christmastime!
"She will give birth to a son, and you are to give Him the name Jesus, because He will save His people from their sins."
-Matthew 1:21
O Come, O Come Emmanuel - Casting Crowns
This is another one of those songs that I don't particularly like, except for this version. Andrea Bocelli has a beautiful voice, and the Muppets add some fun to the song.
"Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth, peace to those on whom His favor rests."
-Luke 2:14
Hark The Herald Angels Sing - Jeremy Camp
Another wintery, Christmas song...because I love snow! But I especially love snow on Christmas! (and throughout the Christmas season). So, I am dreaming of a "White Christmas"
"And He will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace."
-Isaiah 9:6
What Child Is This - Josh Groban
Again, I love this song because it's a Michael W. Smith one. But I also love that it's just an instrumental; something that can just be listened to. You can just close your eyes, sit back, relax, and listen.
"Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; He is the Messiah, the Lord."
-Luke 2:11
Silent Night - The Robertsons
"In the air there's a feeling of Christmas..."
The reason I love this song; city sidewalks decorated all Christmasy, the way all the lights are lit up at night. And the sound of "silver bells" ringing throughout the town.
"For God so loved the world that he gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life."
-John 3:16
Born That We May Have Life - Chris Tomlin
Well, I love snow, and I love country music. So, of course I love this next song. And I only hope to be "walking in a winter wonderland" on Christmas day! Right now, us Michiganders are, hopefully the snow sticks around a while longer! (Crossing my fingers!)
"Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth, burst into jubilant song with music."
-Psalm 98:4
Joy To The World - George Strait
Last year, I went on my very first sleigh ride, which puts a whole lot more meaning to this next song. I love sleigh rides through the snow; they are so peaceful, and, (when going through the woods where I went), they are absolutely gorgeous.
"Come on it's lovely weather for a sleigh ride...!"
"The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God."
-Luke 1:35
Born On Christmas Day - Brad Paisley
This is another song sung by one of my favorite (I guess you could say) "artist" during the Christmas season. Their songs are so fun and are greatly written. So, because this is a TSO song, I had to share it. Who doesn't love TSO?
"Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go."
-Joshua 1:9
Breath of Heaven - Amy Grant
This song is another one of my favorite Christmas songs, sung by one of my favorite singers (especially when he sings Christmas music). I love the choir of kids singing in the background, and the vocals on this song. All the harmonizing and voices put together make for a beautiful Christmas song.
Christmas Day - Michael W. Smith (featuring Mandisa)
'Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; He is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign to you. You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.'
Suddenly, a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,
'Glory to God in the highest, and on earth, peace, good will toward men.'" -Luke 2:10-14
Angels We Have Heard On High - Third Day
I never really liked this song, until I heard this version of it. I think it is the most beautiful rendition of this song. I love the strong meaning to the song: Amidst all the hate and anger in the world, the Christmas bells ring "peace on earth". One of my favorite Christmas songs:
I Heard The Bells On Christmas Day - Casting Crowns
"The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us. We have seen His glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth."
-John 1:14
Welcome To Our World - Michael W. Smith
The Christmas Song - Collin Raye
There really isn't a specific reason that I had to share this song or why I love it, other than that it is a very popular song that sums up a lot of Christmas all in one song. It is also one of the few Christmas songs that actually wishes you a "Merry Christmas." A lot of songs wish "Happy Holidays", or wish a "Holly Jolly Christmas", or talk about the different things people do during the Christmas season. But this song actually says "Merry Christmas to you".
"In many times, many ways, Merry Christmas to you!"
"When God brings his firstborn into the world, He says, 'Let all God's angels worship Him.'"
-Hebrews 1:6
O Come All Ye Faithful - Josh Groban
(Forgot to add, I will also post why I love/had to share the "fun song" posted for each day.)
This song I love because it shows that even amongst the chaos in anyone's life, Christmas can give you a chance to stop and be peaceful for even a moment, and not worry about all the stress and craziness.
If it can happen during a war, it could happen again.
