This was from one of the devotions I read this past week:
Prayer is Holding Hands with God
We were made in God's image, meaning we are alike but we are
not the same. For instance, God is your left hand, and you are your right hand.
They look alike, but they are not the same.
Like
our hands, us and God "fit together". But with sin around, it doesn't
happen. Picture it like this: Sin is like thorns, and with thorns on our right
hand, it cannot completely fit into our left hand, because it's too painful.
So, to make it better, the sin is removed. But, the thorns cannot be removed
with just your right hand, they need the left hand (in this case, God) to
remove them. So, with God, sin is removed from us so that we can be enclosed
with God. When you pray, you fold your hands together, you are enfolded into
the very heart of God. So when you pray, picture yourself holding hands with
God.
"There's
no way we can get sin out of ourselves, so we need God, our 'other hand,' to do
it for us."
Lately, I have been lacking in coming up with ideas for different blog posts.
So I came up with the idea (well, actually a song sparked this idea) for myself that will help me do more blog posts for my readers out there.
This is something like my Tuesday Tips, Wordless Wednesdays, and Friday Funnies or Friday Favorites.
But this one is a little different in that it's a little deeper in thought.
"That's Why I Pray Thursdays" will most often be short and simple, but may help more of you (including myself) to become better at praying.
I am not a prayer warrior (not even close), and some of you may not be either, but I am reading a devotional book that helps people to become better at praying. Even for those of you who are good at praying, this will hopefully still be of interest to you.
Simply, what I'll do is post about things that show why I continue to pray. Some people wonder, "Why Pray?" and this will be like an answer to that. I most likely will not be posting every week on this, but I will try to do it often.
Each time I post, it could be almost anything that I post about.
It could be a picture, a simple quote, a summary of one of the devotionals I read, a music video, etc.; some will come with an explanation some won't. But they will all explain why I keep counting on God, why I pray to Him.
So hopefully I'm able to keep you all interested in prayer, because:
I am very proud to be an American! We celebrate this as our independence day, and may we all remember why we have this freedom.
To all of our current and former troops who have fought for this country, we salute you!
May this not be the only day that we come together as a country and are truly united. We all live in freedom because God has blessed this country, and because of people who are willing to sacrifice for us.
We are the land of the free and home of the brave!
God Bless the U.S.A.
"I pledge allegiance to the flag Of the United States of America And to the republic, for which it stands One nation, under God, indivisible, With liberty and justice for all."
"Now this nation that I love has fallen under attack. A might sucker punch came flyin' in From somewhere in the back. Soon as we could see clearly Through our big black eye Man, we lit up your world Like the 4th of July..."
