another happy birthday!

Well, last week, we had a birthday for my mom.
Today, it's a happy birthday to the best dad in the world.
I mentioned in my mom's birthday post that I had definitely received some of her traits, but there is definitely a bit of my dad in me as well.

He has taught me everything I know (well, all the "guy" stuff: cars, bow and arrows, building fires, etc.) Which is pretty easy for him because I am very smart and a fast learner (haha!). I still can't build a fire for the life of me.

Anyways, Happy Birthday Dad!

(and again, I'll let you guess the age)

(yes, my photos of me and him are very limited)

September 11

Where were you, or what were you doing on this tragic day?
I remember sitting in my 4th grade computer class when my teacher had told us what had happened. It didn't really sink in though until I got home and saw it on TV.
Definitely a day I will never, and all Americans should never, forget.

happy birthday!

Happy Birthday to the best mom ever!!
I'd have to say she is pretty smart too, to have thought of having me. ;)
I have definitely got some of her in me (yes, I'm admitting that), but I am glad to say I got her sense of humor.
I love the late night talks we have, and the tears that fill my eyes because your laugh attacks make me laugh. :)
Happy Birthday Mom!
(and, I'll let y'all guess her age)

it's labor day

Happy Labor Day Y'all!
I hope you enjoy today whether you celebrate it as a holiday or not.
I'm headed off to a huge family picnic today, then having a fire tonight with just my family.
Have a great day!
oh, and take the day off if you are able :)

that's why i pray thursdays

I pray to have a relationship with God.

In one of the devotionals from a few weeks ago, I learned about the importance of prayer, other than praising God and asking God for help and forgiveness.
The importance of prayer is to keep a strong relationship with God.
Just like people regularly talk to their spouse, they need to talk regularly with God.

If you didn't talk to your spouse or boyfriend/girlfriend, you wouldn't have a good relationship with that person, much less a relationship at all.
Praying is talking to God, and to develop and keep a good, strong relationship with Him, you need to continue to "talk" with Him.

Praying won't always get you what you want, but that doesn't mean it's not worth it.

Prayer is like "falling in love" with God.

That's Why I Pray.
